Sealing Amethyst Geode

Howdy all,

 

I have this amethyst geode that I'm considering sealing with linseed oil, because I find that would bring out the colors in the basalt better. Is this a good idea, or should I consider another type of sealer?

Linseed oil is a hardening oil and also darkens with time. Mineral oil is sometimes used I believe.
