Found along Deep River in North Carolina and thought it had some fossil like characteristics however I am not really experienced in this area. It did however pass the so called lick test so now this really peaked my interest .

The "lick test" doesn't prove anything is a fossil, just that something is porous.

Lots of rocks can be porous.

Please, do yourself a favor, and do not lick rocks.

I am not seeing anything fossil like, here. This looks like some sort of limestone, to me.

Wait for some other opinions, however.
