New Members Alextexas Posted 11 hours ago New Members Share Posted 11 hours ago Hello, these are fossils I have found in the North Sulphur River between the bridges on 68 and 2675. Some of these things I am fairly certain of, whereas others I am not sure of at all. If there is any information you'd like to share with me about any of them, it would be greatly appreciated. And if you'd like more photos/information about a particular fossil, please let me know. Thanks. There are a lot, so I will do my best to keep things organized. Mosasaur jaw? If so, is it possible to know what type based on this one bone? ~18cm long (photo group 1) This, to me, does not appear like the bone of a fully aquatic animal. The unbroken end has a more recognizable bone-like texture and pores on the left. The broken end, besides the very center, does not have very obvious cavities or a texture I would recognize as bone besides the very small crystals scattered throughout. It is also very heavy, even compared to other fossils of similar size that I have found. ~12cm long, ~15cm around at the narrow end, ~19cm around at the wide end. (photo group 2) Plesiosaur vertebra? Does anyone know the reason why these are much less common than Mosasaur vertebra? ~6cm diameter (photo group 3) Mosasaur humerus? ~4cm long (photo group 4) I have no idea what this bone is, but it appears complete (besides a small portion of bone at one end of the V shape). It's interesting how a portion of the bone almost appears encrusted rather than uniformly blended into the rest of the bone. ~7cm across "V" shape (photo group 5) Saurodon fish jaw fragment? ~8cm long (photo group 6) Jaw fragment with tooth? The bone seems fish-like to me, but I'm really not sure about this one. ~4.5cm long (photo group 7) I am pretty sure this is a fish jaw fragment, but I'm not sure what kind. ~7cm long (photo group 8) I have found several of these but have been unable to identify them. They appear to have had a hole near the wide end and a large crystal that I assume filled a large cavity at the narrow end. ~8cm long (photo group 9) Mastodon enamel? (photo group 10) This reminds me of Globiden teeth I have seen, specifically the ones towards the front of the jaw that are less round. There is at least one very subtle edge, as well as a slightly worn indent at the tip. ~2.3cm long (photo group 11) Is this the end of an Enchodus jaw? Also, one picture contains three more bones with a similar appearance to a portion of the larger piece. ~4.5cm long (photo group 12) This looks like a jaw fragment with several broken-off teeth. There is a slight bow to the bone, and the texture seems more fish-like, but I am not sure. ~5.5cm long (photo group 13) Is this a large rib fragment? One of its sides is much more flat than the other. ~13cm long, 10.5cm around (photo group 14) I think this is a Cretaceous bone, but I am not sure of what. It appears symmetrical down its length. ~10cm long (photo group 15) I think this is a paddle bone, but I have not been able to identify the exact bone or animal. One end is flat with a dense texture, while the other is curved and has a sponge-like texture. ~4.5cm long (photo group 16) Thanks again.
