New Members FossilNovice34 Posted 9 hours ago New Members Share Posted 9 hours ago Hi local nature center in NJ was closing and giving away fossils from storage. We got this from a box labelled Provo, Utah. Most were local fossils. They didn’t know what it was. We thought maybe a coprolite but not sure? Any help appreciated. Fossildude19
Looks more like an infilled burrow, to me. TqB
The last photo looks like a partial coiled nautiloid steinkern and the next to last shows possible chambers at the top. Difficult without the specimen in hand though. 1 Tarquin
Thomas.Dodson
It might be a bellerophontid as well. I can't tell if there are possible chambers as TqB mentioned.
Fossildude19
It's odd, whatever it is. There is a weird imprint where I wouldn't expect it. I'm seeing that as the impression of the next whorl. And the hole at centre on the right hand end is a possible siphuncle - we're looking at a cameral wall as in this one (a little Permian Peripatoceras): Edited 4 hours ago by TqB 1 Tarquin
