Concretion around a shell?

I found this “rock” on a beach in Mississippi where I usually find late Miocene fossils. It has the overall shape and symmetry of a shell, and the inside of the hole has the texture of a shell. It feels very porous and light, and it weighs about 12.5 grams. I can scratch the rock with my fingernail, and it fizzles with a drop of vinegar. Anybody have any ideas about this thing?

@RockwoodI think you’re right! I’ve never seen one before, but the pictures on google look identical. It’s probably modern then, right?

It could be modern, but I don't know how to tell.
