New Members Opticalillusion Posted 21 hours ago New Members Share Posted 21 hours ago I found a concentration concretion a while back and used the freeze/thaw method. Seems to be some sort of fossil inside but not sure what it is.

Maybe a Cordaites or Cyperites leaf? @Mark Kmiecik @stats @deutscheben @RCFossils @fiddlehead Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 IPFOTM -- MAY - 2024 _________________________________________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." Fossildude19
I agree - the location where the item was found should always be posted in the body of the topic. State/County/nearest city is always helpful. Definitely some different eras present in Illinois. But given the images, I can infer a Carboniferous age for the fossil. Rockwood
Looks like a Mazon concretion to me. I think it's a flattened Calamites branch though.
