pleecan
This is a bit of remote odd ball question / topic for those who may be interested. Jellyfish have been found in the Cambrian period deposits out west and in the Carboniferous period ie Mazon Creek deposits and are found present today. That means they must existed in the ordovician and silurian periods. Because of the softbody parts.... preservation is extremely poor at best. Does anyone Know of fossil record examples of Jellyfish in the Silurian Period.... just curious..... It may be one of the items I might keep an eye to look out for for my next trip to the Silurian Bertie formation next year. pleecan
Thanks for the reference Bill.... Gives me hope of potential prescence of Jellyfish remains in the Silurian Bertie Lagerstatte. Peter Edited August 31, 2010 by pleecan
