The Winner of the August 2010 Invertebrate/Plant Find Of The Month is Coco's beautiful gastropod - Clavatula asperulata var. tortonica of the Miocene Burdigalian stage in France! The competition with an incredible trilobite was very close, but the congratulations go to Coco for her find!

Thank you to all that shared your finds and research.

Congratulations!! ;)

I assume the matrix didn't just fall away. That is one well-preserved and well-cleaned shell. Congratulations, Coco.

Hello to all members of this forum,

At first, many thanks for your votes and congratulations. I am glad to be the one of you since June 2009.

I did not often participate in this competition because I do not still have time to make photos, and I do not look for fossils all year long.

I found this beautiful shell during a prospecting day of fossil sites described in publications, with two friends. It is the only fossil "with a reasonable size" found this day.

We had to cross many brambles, fields of ferns, heaps of dead trees fell in forests, we walked with our shoes in brooks. We had to fight with spiders, ticks, mosquitoes, etc.... We came back dirty, stinking, scratched of everywhere, ate by insects, but it was a very beautiful day!

Here is a pic of when I discoved it :

Time to time, I shall continue to propose my finds in this competition, just for fun ! Thanks to you !
