indyfossils Posted May 2, 2011 Share Posted May 2, 2011 (edited) How do you tell if a bone is fossilized or if it is just old? Also could a bone just be partially mineralized and still not be a fossil? I also that fossils are heavier than bone but wouldn't that be dependent on the minerals that replaced the bone and wouldn't you need an idea of the weight of a similar sized bone for comparison?
