Extinct Tiger Shark?

I am curious on whether this belonged to an extinct variety of tiger shark...

I found it on Venice Beach earlier this year.

Looks like it to me, although it may not be an extinct species. Galeocerdo cuvier is the modern species and it is also a fairly common fossil find

There's no limit to what you can accomplish when you're supposed to be doing something else

Looks like Physogaleus contortus, extinct tiger-like shark, but to confirm I need a view looking down the front edge of the tooth. P. contortus has a twist to the blade giving it its name.

Here are some more views of the tooth in question.

I do see a curve along the side shown in the first picture in this post.

Looks like a Contortus to me. :)
