New Members Barracuda48 Posted September 7, 2011 New Members Share Posted September 7, 2011 My 16 year old son found this tooth in a small river in southeastern Virginia this summer. After doing some research I think it's a posterior megalodon tooth but since we are new to the hobby I would like someone more knowledgeable to confirm this. Thanks in advance. fossilselachian
Rear view of possible Megalodon Tooth You nailed it - nice find/tooth. If viewed from the outside and looking into the mouth of the shark this "rear view" would actually be the side of the tooth one would see. This is the labial side of the tooth (lip side) as opposed to the lingual side of the tooth ( tongue side). It's just opposite of what one's first impression would be.
