New Members Naturalist Jim Posted July 30, 2008 New Members Share Posted July 30, 2008 Hi. I'd appreciate any info about the trilobite shown in the attached photo. It was found in a cracked-open chert pebble in a gravel pit in southwestern Mississippi, near Natchez. I understand that gravel in this area was washed from atop the Nashville Dome as it rose, maybe some from the Ozark area. Thanks in advance for any info on classification, age, or how it got embedded in chert. Jim

Guest solius symbiosus
The pygidium looks like it could be a proetid, but it appears to have glabellar, and occipital lobes like a Ceraurus. Can you get a close up of the cephalon. If it came from the Nashville Dome, It is Ordovician. It is a nice one, and probably fairly rare.
