First of all, what a great find! A hearty congratulations on the win Roger! I am simply amazed at how you found that fish inside that rock! Which brings me to say, I am so very new to all of this except the part where I pick them up off the ground (I've been doing that for years and have gotten quite good at it ;p ) and sometimes I get frustrated because I am so uninformed. I hope you don't mind me asking a few questions! How did you know that fish was in there? Is the first picture the before picture? Where in that picture is the indication that this fish was inside? As for the prep work, I assume it was hours and hours of picking tiny granules of matrix from in and around the fish itself along with some air blasting too? I hope I haven't asked questions that were already answered on another post and if I have, I apologize! Again, Congratulations Roger!

It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent that survives. It is the one that is the most adaptable to change.

Thanks for the kind comments. Of course I don't mind. That's one reason we have this forum here to answer such questions. I think they can just about all be answered through John's link above. Thanks John!

I could still tell you that I went for that particular type of stone since I had studied the stratigraphical and geological situation in those layers beforehand and therefore knew just about exactly where and what I was looking for. So I found a fishy trace and kept everything that had a chance of holding the rest of it.

Best wishes, Roger
