darren1408
Hi, I found this today on my trip to Charmouth UK in Jurassic Rock. Does anyone know what it is? Thank you, Darren. :Dgrin
Auspex
It seems that bthe most common fossils from this location are Ammonites, Icthyosaur bones, fish, and the occasional Crinoid. Of these, your specimen looks most like fragmentary bone, ie Icthyosaur or fish. Note that, at extreme low tide, terrestrial Pleistocene bones and wood are known to occur. darren1408
Cool, sounds interesting. The item was found in a rock that I split open, the marking is on both halves. the marking is 4 1/2 to 5 inches long, bit the rock it was found in was bigger! Darren. Auspex
Good pics; it's beginning to look "woody" to me. Bill
Hi Darren, It has the same texture as a piece of burnt wood, I'd go with wood. KOF, Bill. Welcome to the forum, all new members www.ukfossils check it out.
