gwestbrook
Where do you find the small specimen boxes in assorted sizes I've seen on some of your posts? The kind you place specimens in in larger display trays?
KansasFossilHunter
I make mine out of card stock, it works pretty well. That way you can size them to fit in the larger display trays better.
Bev
What about those small clear plastic ones with the tops, and sometimes the tops even magnify! Anyone have a source for those? Wrangellian
The white ones you fold up yourself I get from a seller on ebay.. The premade jewelry ones (also white, with lids), come in boxes of say 100 from craft supply places.

Bev I don't think they magnify, plus someone on the forum may have a better source. But I've had my eye on these on e-bay. They also have them with 50 jars. You can click on 'See other items' to see what else they have. http://www.ebay.com/itm/390116451540?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 Steve

Down under fossil hunter
Hello I have posted this in previous conversations but if you go to, www.riogrande.com and search for plastic boxes, they come in many sizes. Also search for the term suspension boxes, which you can use for some more 3D fossils. Good luck.
jkfoam
I use small fold-up boxes of various sizes. I could make them myself but I just buy them in lots of 100. Its easier. I buy from the following source. http://www.rockboxes.com/index.html I also use small plastic boxes and small plastic vials for small fossils and micro fossils. I obtain thes from Althor products Inc at www.althor.com. I hope this helps you. Jim The Eocene is my favorite

Wrangellian
I wonder if that's the same supplier I got mine from on ebay... he was also in Colorado. I could make my own too, but I agree - after buying the cardstock (if I can't find scraps from something) and tracing and cutting, it is easier just to buy them in bulk! Making your own is maybe the only option if you need an odd size box.
Shamalama
I have a bunch of the clear boxes (like the "Perky Boxes" that mineral collectors used for miniature class specimens) that I purchased for collection but I never used them and now they are just gathering dust. If anyone wants to trade for some PM me. I have three styles shown below with the following measurements (from left to right): 5x7x3.5cm in size 5.5x5.5x4cm in size 6.5x6.5x5.5cm in size All come with a styrofoam insert (the largest box on the right I found the inserts for after I took the photo). I have about 60 of each box but if you want more, or other sizes, Althor Products is who I ordered them from close to a decade ago. You can see their contact info in the pic and they are still in business. Update: I just found a small cache of the true "Perky Boxes" (about 20) if anyone wants some of them. They look like the ones on this page: http://www.crscientific.com/perkyboxes.html Edited January 1, 2013 by Shamalama -Dave __________________________________________________ Geologists on the whole are inconsistent drivers.
