ebrocklds
Rummy i was looking though your fossils on picasa and found you had misidentified a fossil. the "mosquito" is actually a dragonfly or a damsel fly. without knowing the size it is hard to tell, but i would guess damsel fly. either way it is a rare find. i have dug at bonanza many times and have only found one dragonfly and a very poor damsel fly. here is yours and here is mine for comparison. by the way mine measures 1 5/8 inches. if you look closely you can see the segmented tail and also the enlarged body for the wing attachments. congratulations on the great find!! Rummy
Thanks, I know it doesn't really look like a mosquito, but that how it was origanlly labeled. I'll be sure to change it.
