greel
Today was definately TREAT at the old creek. I thought I might scare up some goblin teeth from the creek gravel, since last night was Halloween. Not too many goblins about, but we managed to find some scary teeth anyway. I was inspired by mako-boy (aka Bob) and Pool Man (aka Dan), who both recently cleaned up on fossil trips. Today was one of my better days with a shovel. I found a bunch of teeth, but I'll just post my favorites. The meg is a killer! The nice mako lower tooth belongs to Bob and the white teeth are Brian's. -greel

kauffy
SHWEEEEET!!!!!!!!! sweet sweet halloween candy... mmmmmm....... Nice finds indeed.... how many screens full of gravel did you have to trick until you got those treats? (in other words, how long were you hunting for?) jbstedman
Wow!! Great finds. The picture of the turtle prompts the question -- how polluted is the water actually? The one time I made it there, I had small fish swimming around my feet. Besides fossils, I collect roadcuts, Stream beds, Winter beaches: Places of pilgrimage. FossilFreak
My question is... How cold was the water? I wanted to go to GMR all summer but never made it. I figured it would already be too cold. Nice finds though.

greel
I think someone found a meg over 6 inches at gmr!!!! I found one very close to 6 inches. Too bad about all the enamel peel on the lingual side, but the labial side displays nicely. Although the creek is polluted with trash and God knows what else, fish do live there along with eels, crayfish, turtles, and snakes. The first thing we saw when entering the creek was a dead copperhead that ran into the business end of a collector's shovel. I collected for about 6 hours in total, although I found my best teeth early in the morning. It's a 3 hour drive (one way) for me, so I tend to dig all day when I go. -greel
obsessed1
Great finds on your trip especially those GW's. That big Meg is awesome. With a Meg that size a little peal wouldn't matter to me..

Auspex
Too bad about all the enamel peel on the lingual side, but the labial side displays nicely. Other way 'round: "lingual" = tongue, "labial" = lips. greel
Other way 'round: "lingual" = tongue, "labial" = lips. I thought the flat side of the tooth faced outward, while the curved side (typically displayed) actually faced inward of the shark. -greel
Synechodus
I thought the flat side of the tooth faced outward, while the curved side (typically displayed) actually facedinward of the shark. -greel Sorry to correct you, Auspex, but Gerald does have it right. The curved display side faces inwards, i.e. towards the tongue = lingual side The flat reverse side, faces outwards, i.e. towards the lips = labial side Cheers, Paul "And the men who hold high places, Must be the ones to start To mould a new reality, Closer to the Heart" (Rush, "Closer to the Heart" from the album "A Farewell to Kings")
