100%Texan
I've taken another canoe trip down Brazos and found a small fossil. On previous trips I've found a portion of a mammoth tibia (20 inches long) along with other bits and pieces. The side showing has a long rise running length of tip. The back side is almost flat with a small raised area size of almond nut. Based on size of tip, I'd say this was a big animal, mammoth or mastrodon. Anyone have a guess what this belongs to? RichW9090
From just that picture, I can imagine any one of dozens of bones it could be from. Sorry, the detail just isn't there to make a determination. The plural of "anecdote" is not "evidence".
100%Texan
Thanks Rich, What type of detail would you need see? Sorry can't supply the rest of the vertebrae.... Also thanks again on the equus comments.
RichW9090
Texan, the bone itself seems to be lacking any diagnostic detail. Sometimes a fragment of bone can only be said to be Large Mammal Indeterminate. Again, a problem with 2D photograps as well. Wish I could do better!
