Yeah, I'm not really a rock expert so I don't know but it caught my eye and I wasn't going to carry around a larger sample :D

A picture from the cliffs a week or so ago. One of my favorite places to take pictures.

Yeah, it was a pretty good day! ~ Thanks for letting me come down. I'll post some of the important finds. I'm sure that is pet. wood, I was there :D I even used state-of-the-art technology to break it free from the rock. I can see why man started out using stone tools; I grabbed a nearby rock and split out a piece. :D

The black tooth looks worn in this picture but really is not that bad. It turned out to be a 2".

I picked up on of these rocks when I was down there ATL. I saw that there were larger rocks but chose to take a small one. I have no clue what this is and forgot to ask you. I found it in my pocket later and wondered what the green was in the stone. And no, it's not algae :P

The rock could be moss agate

Recent partial skull. I haven't talked to Stephen about it yet but I'm going to assume it is partial baleen whale.

Is that a skull frag or a vert process?

here is a little something from today, ill get to the post later, this is my meg, well one odd thing about it.

Looks like the serrations go from fine to coarse abruptly!

Can you post a pic of the whole tooth, with something for scale?

Happy New Year. First Fossils of 2009 for me.

A large whale vertebrae found only feet from the partial skull I posted here a few days ago. No way to tell if they are associated but based on the location is it possible since large vertebrate fossils are fairly rare there.

Also I found an Ecphora with 10 costa. The 4 main costa and 6 others squeezed in there. A few fish verts and small shark teeth came along too.

Very nice way to start the year. Refresh my memory...how old are these fossils?

Thanks. Where I collected these it is about 10 million years old.

nice finds, really wish i could have gone, from what i have been hearing north end was the place to go.

Probably was. There was a good amount of gravel on the beach. But when it is that low there are way too many people on the beach and I'm not really into waking up at 4 a.m. to get to the beach and find 5 people with flashlights leaving.
