TyrannosaurusRex
So I bought this tooth this summer. My question is what is all the red stuff attached to it?
megabass22
I´ve got a Carcharodontosaurus saharicus tooth with the same "red stuff" attached to it (Visible near the base aswell in spots all over the tooth). I don´t know what it is though, however i think it is the "thing" that is under the enamel, i could be wrong though. paulgdls
the red colouration comes from the sandy beds in which the Kem Kem fossils are found (fluvial deposits). The beds are red, yellow or whitish and the colour is imparted to the bone and enamel of the fossil. NZ_Fossil_Collecta
wow... i never realised how they dug up the fossils at kem kem. i thought it was just a huge dig-area. I'm CRAZY about amber fossils and just as CRAZY in general.
