JimInAugusta
So I went out kayaking again around the mouth of the Savannah river here in Georgia. I found the usual handful of tiny sharkteeth to give out to my kid's friends. I did find one tooth with short white squiggles on both sides so I kept that one. I also found what I think is the stinger from a ray. Lastly I brought back a small shell that is pretty common to find. Concerning the shell do you think its old or just worn? Hope you guys are doing well. I had hoped to find something worthy of offering up as a contest prize but all the sizable teeth I found were split top to bottom. Perhaps next trip. Northern Sharks
I can't help with the shell, it looks old to me, but it's nothing I'm too familiar with. The tooth looks like a Bull shark, Carcharhinus leucas and yes, the item at the bottom is a stingray barb. Nice finds There's no limit to what you can accomplish when you're supposed to be doing something else
JimInAugusta
The ID question was with the barb. The rest was fluff so I would get a good grade for lousy collecting/poor social skills.

JimInAugusta
I forgot one. Here is something the wife found. She is hoping it is an ear bone since she is an ear doctor.

Auspex
Well, it at least looks a little like a fossil in-ear hearing aid; think she'll buy it? That lightning-struck Bull Shark tooth is very pretty. JimInAugusta
Ill tell her that everyone here resoundingly said it was something. Its actually interesting to hold. Maybe its an alien hearing aid. If I am going to stretch the truth lets make it worthwhile. Thanks for the use of the collective brain bin.
