TheAshBee
Hey all, Here is a large vertebra that is giving me some difficulty with a positive ID. This comes from Pleistocene material in South Carolina. Size approximately 6" across by 4" tall. I was thinking something along the lines of whale or giant ground sloth... Thanks for any help! Pliosaur
I think it might be from some sort of aquatic mammal but i'm not so sure.

TheAshBee
Dinosaur12lee -- Thanks for your response. I have since gained information from the person who came to me about it that the vertebra was found on a different site than I had originally thought. It most likely is whale, I guess. JVB
I bought a very similar "heart shaped" vert. at Tuson fossil show in Feb., from Lowe Country Fossils, and it is from S.Carolina..very cheap. I .was told it was from a Dogong ( spelling?) looks just the same as a manatee...marine mammal. I also got a small whale vert., that does not look like that. Joe.
