cowsharks
Next week I plan on being in Aurora for the Fossil Festival and I'm bringing one of my sons (19yrs old). He's been with me before, but back when the spoil piles produced better quality/quantity teeth. Last year I crawled around the makeshift parking lot that they created out of "old" spoil pile material. I think I did that two years in a row and found some decent stuff, although a lot of it was busted from cars running over it etc. Just curious to know if that parking lot/field is still worth collecting or has it coughed up its last tooth? I'm sure the museum will have new piles of material delivered as usual, and as usual they will get decimated probably a day or two before the festival. We'll probably hit GMR for a few hours as well and try our luck at finding a GW; hopefully the water level will be low enough. Looking forward to our annual visit to Aurora. Daryl. sixgill pete
Daryl, I was in the field/parking lot several weeks ago. Did not find much, but it did give up some goodies in the past. The new piles that the museum got a while back were ok, not sure if/when they have put new stuff in the field yet. I will be in the town building displaying some of my fossils, including my starfish.
