MOROPUS
As I`m not british, I am a little bit confused with this terms. I only know that they are two different formations. So, I`ve got some questions: -Which is the oldest? -How many million years compromises both of them? -Which are their classical localities? -Is their any PDF to download with their fauna? Perhaps some UK members can solve it. Thanks.
Bill
Hi Moropus, There are several types of Crag, aged between 1.5 and 3.75 million years old, including Red Crag, Norwich Crag and Coralline Crag. Of these, Coralline Crag is the oldest, and found exclusively in Suffolk. "Coralline" is a misnomer, it was named such after the abundance of corals found there. These were later found to be the skeletal remains of bryozoans. More info and locality details found Here KOF, Bill. Welcome to the forum, all new members www.ukfossils check it out.
