Cleaning Fossils

How do you clean a limestone fossil? I have zero tools and little time. I have a few sea urchins I'd like to clean if there's a quick easy way to do it. Not likely, huh?

Limestone fossils take time and patience. Urchins are chemically the same as the limestone, calcium carbonate. You have to use dental pics, nails, pins, etc. Or air abrasive equipment. Any acid would also affect the fossil, unless it is bone when vinegar or very dilute hydrochloric acid can be used, carefully.

KOF, Bill.

I have had very good results using white vinager. Here's an example.
