Pool Man
Hello, I found the first half of this piece about 8 months ago and today I found the other half! Go's to show that you can never search an area to much. Thanks for any help. Dan
Mike Owens
First of all --- where was it found? What state & where in that state, assuming your in the U.S.? Ok, I found out you are in Florida. That leaves me out of helping you ID it. Welcome to to Forum. Guest Cris
Also, what kinds of other things do you find in the same area that you found this?
Pool Man
I have found mosly turtle and aligator parts in this area. I have also found Horse and bison teeth pieces. I also believe I found my one and only manatee tooth close by. Dan
Uncle Siphuncle
Dan Looks like it could be most of a big atlas vert (first cervical behind the skull), but I'm not sure from what beast. Good find. Some of the Florida boys will surely weigh in on this one, possibly negating what I've said with their local expertise. Grüße, Daniel A. Wöhr aus Südtexas "To the motivated go the spoils." Harry Pristis
DanLooks like it could be most of a big atlas vert (first cervical behind the skull), but I'm not sure from what beast. Good find. Some of the Florida boys will surely weigh in on this one, possibly negating what I've said with their local expertise. This Florida boy is not good with vertebrae. But for a few, I need to use a comparative collection. A horse or a camel is about the right size.
