sixgill pete
I am considering ordering a Dino-Lite AM2011-MS21W 0.3 MP, 10x-50x, 230x Digital Microscope + Stand Package from Amazon for 138.00. Not ever owning a digital scope before and knowing next to nothing about them, does anyone have any insight on this product. The reviews, though few are very good for this. MarcoSr
Don I'm not familiar with the Dino-Lite model that you are asking about but I do really like my Dino-Lite AM-411T for taking pictures. However, it is not very good for looking at matrix as it just takes too long to look at a pinch of matrix at a time. Marco Sr. "Any day that you can fossil hunt is a great day." sixgill pete
Marco, I am looking at it more for pictures. I have a good hand held loupe that I use for looking at matrix, that has served me well thus far. Curious, how many mega pixels is the camera in your Dino-Lite? MarcoSr
Don It has a 1.3 megapixels sensor and captures images with 1280 x 1024 resolution according to the spec sheet and I can export images up to 300 DPI. Mike from North Queensland
I just brought a 5 megapixel Digitech QC-3199 USB camera for $120 Australian from a local electronic gadget shop. I came with a fairly stable stand complete with a dial adjustment and a scaled base. The tooth image was taken with my unit as a jpeg file. Best of all the switch for the camera is now on the cable or computer. Its still made in china and similar units can be obtained on ebay. The 5 MP is well worth the little bit of extra money as the images as per the spec sheet are 2592 x 1944 resolution. I still want a real good dissecting microscope with about a 10 MP digital camera but until I find one real cheep this one will have to do.
