Collecting Minnesota

Last week I was collecting in Minnesota with forum member Bev. Bev being a great host took me several places, some new and some the places we went last year. This is the type of road cuts she took me to and unfortunately she had her back turned when I snapped a photo. This is Ordovician and in the Galena formation.

One of my better finds and a specimen that will go into my private collection is this giant receptaculitid.post-1148-0-65066800-1411674664_thumb.jpg

I'll have a lot of fun prepping this specimen as I can see gastropods and cephlapods and lots of pod things I don't know. What do you see?

Another post will follow soon. It was a beautiful day to collect and most of Bev's farm animals liked me too.

Bev's blog covered the fossil excursion a lot better than I did.
