Here it is guys...i was able to get some slots for the fossilforum again. You are only allowed to go in 2 times a season so if you are going in with the friends of the museum and as a individual or another club then please do not try to get an extra slot from here. I only have so many slots so i will give it until the first of the month for people to put in there request and then i will contact the people who can make it. Also if yo are not an active member or just a newbie then more than likely you will not be in unless i dont get enough request. good luck to you all and i hope to see some of you out there this year.

Here is part of the email from Curtis with where to meet and requirments.

We will assemble in the Contractor's Parking Lot at 7:30 on the

day of your scheduled hunt. We will have to take in two groups and have

only one bus to use. The staging area is very close so this should not

take as long this year. No shorts, tanks tops will be allowed. If you

come dressed like this you will not be allowed on the hunt and asked to

leave. You have to wear steel toed boots and this as been in effect

long enough we cannot accept any excuses, you will not be allowed to

enter the pit without steel toed protection. You have to be 18 years

old or older. The lead guide is in charge at all times, failure to

listen and comply with them or one of their helpers will require us to

escort you off the plant site and suspend any future trips for you and

if you are a club member possibly your club. Not trying to scare

anyone, but it is critical you listen to your guides and leaders, they

want to help you and look out after your safety. Don't take short cuts,

and don't get close to the water areas.

We will have a Porta John in the area for you to use. You will need to

bring snacks, drinks and tools to remove your fossils. They are yours

and we hope you find a large bag full to take back with you.

Again we apologize for any confusion for the schedule this year, please

blame me if you like. Would like to invite you and your club,

neighbors etc, back for the 16th Annual Aurora Fossil Festival, May

22-24. If you have never been it is a great weekend of family fun. PCS

Phosphate will have bus tours all day Saturday of the plant and mine

areas, I will have 6 buses chartered so no waiting and anyone at any age

can go on the tour. We will also have a handicapped bus there and make

tours available as needed with that. We encourage anyone to display

fossils, or any other items that might be of interest. Please feel free

to contact me as I am the chairman for more information.

Thanks and have a safe fossil hunt.

please save me the first seats on the bus for like, um, a year and a half or so from now, depending on whether t.j. can get away. i just think going by chondrichological age isn't fair to those yutes who are light years beyond their piers (or their pilings, at least). i've basically got t.j. already molded into a middle-aged man, but he can't buy ammo for his quad fifty nor skulk into quarries. what's up with that?

What a great opportunity but I think I have to pass this year because we're headed to Scotland on April 1. Maybe next year.

Great! Since I have a slot on the 28th, we all should be able to get together Saturday night. A big forum dinner somewhere perhaps. Hogtown already contacted me about getting together somewhere in Washington, NC.

I would certainly love the opportunity to come if there are any extra slots available!! I've been to their fossil museum once before and it's such a great place! And N.AL.hunter, I would love to get together and meet everyone for dinner if I am given a slot. I kinda feel alone over here (Jacksonville) in my quest for fossils, so it would be a great opportunity for me to meet others with the same passion!

I just made our reservations for the Days Inn for March 28th. We'll be easy to spot. Wearing our Fossil Forum shirts and flying my Fossil Hunter Flag. White Ford Focus with Alabama plates. Hope we all can get together. Someone who knows the area might be able to point us to a restaurant where we can eat cheap but good. Delos "Del" and Holly O'Neal.

On 17, I think, there is a Golden Corral, it's an all-you-can-eat place close to many of the motels in that area and there is a Wal-mart behind it for any of those other items you need while away.

The soul of a Fossil Hunter is one that is seeking, always.

There is a Sportsman's Bar a block east of the light that has Big Screen TVs, comfy booths and much better food(and fewer screaming kids), though it's not open on Sundays.

Coincidental how we all got the same weekend, eh? I sense the hand of Pat Young in this nonrandom event.

Well I always have to hit the little Mexican restaurant just a few blocks north of the Days Inn on 17. Great food and reasonable prices.

Brian,

I would like to offer my name for consideration. In fact, my birthday is March 29th, so it would seem a fit way to spend such a day.

Thank You,

I'm not an active poster on the forum a "newbie" and just as new to fossil hunting but would love to be considered for the hunt. I tried to get a slot but missed the deadline by one day. Would greatly appreciate the opportunity to go. The only repayment I could offer is take some of you all hunting for coal fossils here in Tennessee or hunting the Paleozoic fossils in East Tennessee. I wouldn't even want to be considered if I could not give something in return.

My Sincere Apologies, just seemed like your sense of humor to put individuals and clubs from the deep south on the same weekend. This year it's Black River on Saturday and Forum on Sunday. Have a hunch Tampa Bay will be there too. Not the first time this has happened, but I'm not complaining, kinda fun. The blame is strictly Curtis' then.

First of all I am so excited to be here! I have learned so much already. Anything you can dig up has been a passion of mine all of my life, however, time never allowed me to get serious about it. Well Life has handed me a lemon and its time to make lemonade. I'm now indulging in those things that I was always to busy pursue. It may be a longshot but I have to throw my hat in the ring for Lee Creek. I've read so many amazing accounts of the great finds and more importantly the commeradery amongst fellow hunters. I just returned from an excurssion in Summerville, SC and had a great time, and as Im sure you've heard a thousand times " I'm hooked". Please consider my name for the trip and if doesnt work out I'll give it a shot next trip. :D
