MOROPUS
I found it near a river, alone with no other fossil ( I think it could be Pleistocene), some kilometres from my home. It is mineralised, due to the lighter proof (there was no smell), but it isn`t heavy weight.[attachment =1172:image0003.jpg]

I don't know which one it might be, but the astragalus resembles a cow (modern or Pleistocene), red deer, or other deer-relatives. What is the nature of the rectangular hole or is that a paint label? -------Harry Pristis 1 http://pristis.wix.com/the-demijohn-page What seest thou else In the dark backward and abysm of time? ---Shakespeare, The Tempest

mosasaur
I agree that it's from an artiodactyl. Did camels roam your area in Pleistocene times?
