mikeymig
I need a little verification please. I got this claw from a very well known high-end mineral collector that also has a few fossils. His label says - Elaphrosaurus igoidensis, 60 miles south of Erfoud, Morocco. The size is 3.2" and I'm not sure he has the right dino that this claw belongs to. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks, Mikey Many times I've wondered how much there is to know. led zeppelin
Search4
Whatever it turns out to be, that's one heckuva a nice claw. Congrats!
mikeymig
I know there has to be at least one Dino expert here that can help me. Troodon
Its a Dino hand claw from a theropod. Elaphrosaurus iguidensis has been described from Niger and I'm not aware of anything from the Kem Kem beds not to say it has not. Most claws are difficult if not impossible to ID from morocco since there is just so little found and published. The ones like this in my collection are called theropod indeterminate. mikeymig
Would it be wrong to call it deltadromeus species or is safer/better to just call it a theropod claw undetermined species? Auspex
Given the state of the science on this material, the latter stands a better chance of not being inaccurate. Troodon
Would it be wrong to call it deltadromeus species or is safer/better to just call it a theropod claw undetermined species? I agree with Auspex. The holotype that described Deltadromeus although fairly complete was headless and was missing the hands. So there is still a lot to learn about this dinosaur. That is very typical of all the dinosaur material from the Kem Kem.
