It certainly looks like petrified wood but the larger piece should help solve the puzzle. Yes there were trees this big. Check out the Carboniferous period. minnbuckeye Posted March 4, 2015 Author Share Posted March 4, 2015 Thanks for the response. Unfortunately I did not take my camera with me. We were in the area for a wedding on my wife's side and I left the camera with her. So this is all I have to go on. I am not expecting a genus/ species response.
