matthew textor Posted March 22, 2009 Share Posted March 22, 2009 hi everyone Can anyone ID this fossil clam I found in the Creek today? the clam is from 28 mile creek which is near 28th Creek Rd which is in the town of Kennedy in N.Y. state the size of the clam is about 1 1/2 inches long here is 2 photos of the clam fossil Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
mdpaulhus Posted March 22, 2009 Share Posted March 22, 2009 I don't really know the ID, and I could be wrong because its hard to see in the pictured, but this sure looks a lot more like a brachiopod to me as the photos seem to show typical brachipod symmetry (vertical dow the center of the valve) rather than typical bivalve symmetry (left valve/right valve symmetry). While there were certainly bivalves in the upper devonian, there were a lot more brachipods. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
