LanceH
Saturday March 21 was the Dallas Paleontological Society's field trip to Gore, Oklahoma. We headed to an abandoned quarry where you can find good-great quality blastoids loose or in mass in limestone. There are also trilobites and shark teeth but I personally only saw one Deltodus tooth and NO trilos. I found about 13 blastoids. The age is Morrowan, lower Pennsylvanian. Thanks to PollyM for tracking down the current new owners and gaining permission. Here are two pics of the quarry and then two pics of my best Pentremites blastoid:
Guest N.AL.hunter
Very nice looking blastoids. I do not have that species in my collection so I am drooling. What size are they?
LanceH
The nice one up there is a little bigger than this.
Roz
It was a very good trip, my first blastoids from OK (have a couple I found in IL), and my very first plant material ever. The plant material was from a site about 40 minutes from there... YAY! Welcome to the forum!

Shamalama
Wow! look at the detail on that Blastoid! Do they all look like that? Sounds like a great trip. -Dave __________________________________________________ Geologists on the whole are inconsistent drivers. When a roadcut presents itself, they tend to lurch and weave. Matt
Very cool looking things. I dont know anything about those but like the line in the movie Tomb Raider..."My ignorance amuses me" Very beautiful and in the 3rd and 4th pic it looks like the cool looking thing is sitting next to a carnivorous plant. Sweet!
