Roz
I found this on the recent hunt to the North Sulphur River. I am showing 2 views. The river has a real mix of ages and formations so cannot name which it is from. Actually, I am not even positive it is a fossil. Now I am going to sneak in a pic of my first piece of mammoth material found at the same hunt. It was identified as a section that goes between the ridges of a mammoth tooth. One of these I am going to find a complete tooth! Thanks! Welcome to the forum!

One of these I am going to find a complete tooth! Thanks! Hello, Roz . . . Your first object resembles a fragment of an unerupted Equus horse cheek-tooth. The protocone and the "lophs" are uncemented in the first few millimeters of an unworn tooth, and they easily shear away. The stuff between the enamel plates of a mammoth tooth is cementum. Cementum is relatively soft, and does not preserve well by itself. -------Harry Pristis http://pristis.wix.com/the-demijohn-page What seest thou else In the dark backward and abysm of time? ---Shakespeare, The Tempest
