Help needed in identification

Hi

Am new to the forum and this is my first entry here....I found this specimen on the banks of a river in India. Request help in identification pls. Am adding two images of the front and rear side ..post-20371-0-85777300-1451572485_thumb.jpgpost-20371-0-70562100-1451572611_thumb.jpg.....the size is close to 9cms

It looks to me to be a water-worn piece of sedimentary stone, with calcite layers.

Can we get a picture from directly above the item in question?

It looks like a micro crystaline quartz or chert-like rock.

The item may be a geologic feature, or an internal mold of a bivalve or brachiopod.

Hard to ID from just a mold as they lack detail necessary for ID.

Where was it found, and have other fossils been found in the vicinity?
