Okay this rock was found by my grandmother 10 yeas ago at a beach in Meexico. It looks liek a snail shell to m, I can spell the scientific name well so I used a common name. Any help is welcome. Also the total slab is about 1.5 by 1.5 inches. Also if anyone can actually identify this, do you know how old it is about and about how much it is worth?

I think that one qualifies as a "keepsake curio with a family history".

It looks just like a hurricane on the weather radar :P

I would have to guess that this one is just a very interesting shaped rock...But if I saw it laying on the ground, I'd pick it up and think twice about it, too.

So I guess it is not a fossil, correct?

I don't think it can be completely ruled out, but neither do I think it can be identified.

(I'd keep it just 'cuz it looks like a bird's head :) )

Your Grandmother thought it was cool enough to bring all the way back from Mexico, and I agree.

Lol, the only reason my granny took it was cuz it looked like a birds head. Just as Auspex realized.
