Themaniac19
Does anybody know how to do this without damaging the teeth? I've heard acetone and a soft cotton cloth works well. Is that true?

Wendell Ricketts
Acetone isn't likely to hurt the teeth, but not every glue/consolidant is reversible with acetone, and I wouldn't necessarily want to haphazardly put acetone on a fossil if I weren't sure it wouldn't react badly w/whatever adhesive had been used. Which means: if you don't know what kind of glue was originally used, it can be tricky. I'm attaching a SPNHC chart that might be useful. W.
