New Members elopots Posted April 23, 2009 New Members Share Posted April 23, 2009 We found these pieces in the Peace River. Miocene / Pliocene Hawthorn group. I think they are mammoth. Looks like a couple of vertebrae pieces. All pieces found in the same location. Thanks, Scott
Xiphactinus
Sure looks like mammoth or mastodon. Not too much else could be that big. Nice!

PrehistoricFlorida
These are mastodon/mammoth, but they are likely Pleistocene rather than Miocene/Pliocene. Definitely not from the Hawthorne formation. www.PrehistoricFlorida.com

New Members elopots Posted April 24, 2009 Author New Members Share Posted April 24, 2009 Thanks Gang... We were pretty excited... I was tripping over the pieces for about 15 minutes :durr: ... thought it was part of a tree I was hunting around. What a shock when I decide to move the "tree limbs" The Scout theme for this month is "Jurassic Pack" {rex} ... Even though it is not the right time frame, we are going to bring them in for the monthly pack meeting. I think the kids will enjoy them along with some of our other finds over the years.
