Gary
I would say this looks like a coral, what age are the deposits Silurian? Does the structure have any depth into the matrix or is it just on the surface?

ashcraft
Can't tell size, but looks like a feeding structure off of an archimedes screw to me. ashcraft, brent allen
ebrocklds
i would dare say it is an encrusting bryozoan. judging from the jeans in the background for size. i find alot of stuff like that in the carboniferous near my home in Utah. but don't rule out a type of coral. sometimes they can be very difficult to distinguish. brock
Guest solius symbiosus
It looks like the Tabulate, Favosites. Does it have septa? Can you see any tabulae in cross section?
