minnbuckeye
Does anyone know if there is a way to estimate the size of a trilobite based on the size of it's hypostome (mouth plate). To me, this must have been a large Isotoleus. Looked half heartedly for the rest, but seeing this was in a local stream bed, the chances of finding the rest were slim. Measurements are 2 inches wide and 2.25 inches long Edited April 21, 2016 by minnbuckeye
Malcolmt
Based on a specimen I have that is quite large I would estimate that this was from a 9 to 10 inch specimen.
minnbuckeye
Malcolmt, thanks for your opinion. I was hoping for a twelve incher!!!! I zoomed in on my picture, funny I didn't notice on the real fossil, and saw these fried egg like attachments towards the base. Any ideas what these would be????
