Triceratops
Hey all, I have a piece of kauri copal that over the years has turned a opaque black colour. I tried sanding the piece to see if I could get the old colour back but this only gave the black surface a slightly red tinge. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get the old colour back? Perhaps soaking it in something would work? -Lyall
JohnBrewer
From a quick search on 'cleaning coal jewellery' everything I see is warm soapy water/soft dry cloth. It seems virtually every solvent will dissolve copal so be careful. John Map of UK fossil sites
