CreekCrawler
Hi I found this piece of bone at the North Sulphur River. I'm sure it's bovine, but where does it fit in the critter?? Yes Barefoot, I'm saving it for you! [att achment=26198:squalicorax_093.jpg]
fossilsrock
If this wall mounting is correct, it's back between the hip and the tail:
Evans
Hey Barry, Looks like the atlas vertebrae (1st vertebrae) from a cow. Brian Brian Evans For every complex problem, there is a solution that is simple, neat, and wrong.

barefootgirl
Yeah I thought of it as I was driving home from the Sulphur. Thanks for saving it for me! My turtle skull that I found is cleaning up really nice. Thanks to you my collection of bones and skulls is growing by the day. Evans
Looks like the right skeletal element to me: I agree Auspex, it is the right skeletal element, however it is in the wrong location on our friend tacked to the wall. This is a cervical vertebrae, the atlas to be more precise, and the squared anterior notch in the second picture is indicative of Bos, not Bison........I think..........maybe........I'm fairly sure. ebrocklds
Looks like the right skeletal element to me: right bone wrong location. it is an atlas. it attaches to the occipital condile. the wall mounting i believe is incorrect. (just my opinion) Brock
PrehistoricFlorida
This is the atlas, it goes directly behind the skull, just above the axis. The skeleton on the wall is wrong. Auspex
I agree Auspex, it is the right skeletal element, however it is in the wrong location on our friend tacked to the wall. Brian Thought so; never saw a mammal with a phygostyle.
