What's the size of this item?

I get the impression that it is a partial internal cast of some sort of shell, with some of the shell still adhering to the matrix.

I am pretty sure we can rule out tooth, or claw.

The ridges in the shell-like material are too deep to be anything other than some type of shell, ... in my opinion.

Let's see what others have to say.

Maybe some locals will chime in. :)

The easiest way is to hover your mouse over the user's name, and you should get a box that has an option to message that user.

Conversely, you can also click on a member's user name, and go to their profile page.

You have an option to the left of the user's name to send a message.

We have oyster shells around these parts that can be almost 2 inches thick and 13 inches long. I wouldn't rule out shell just because it's thick.
