New Members LAL2211 Posted August 21, 2016 New Members Share Posted August 21, 2016 I discovered this on Coffs Harbour Beach in Australia and was curious about its heritage. To me, it's fascinating, it could be something simple or maybe it's more. It has very deep lines and a small sparkle-like shine in the middle. Image 1 is the front with the deep lines and Image 2 is the rounded back with detailed grey lines, in one segment, it has a strange too thing like those on the lip of a Cowry Shell. I don't know much about Fossils and Shells so I was just wondering if I could get some expert advice. Thanks!! 😀
Fossildude19
Hello, and Welcome to the Forum. Looks to me to be a modern shell. Looks similar to very worn abalone type shells. Could also possibly be an operculum shell from a snail. What size is it? One of the members here may have more info, soon. PaleoRon
It looks like a calcareous operculum.
