dirtdauber
Don't know much about ammonites and need a little help. Found this large (17 3/4"x15 1/2"), about 18 lb. ammonite a couple of months ago. From the Upper Cretaceous (Maastrichtian) Ripley Formation in central Alabama. It is shaped like a large discus. I'm guessing Placenticeras sp. but don't really know. Thanks for any help. The geology and sutures seem to fit Sphenodiscus. Appreciate the help.
