HamptonsDoc
What is the "anceps" in Prognathodon anceps? Is that the species name? I'm having a hard time finding anything online to explain other than some dealers selling some teeth on various sites. Sorry for my ignorance and thanks! Fossildude19
Have you looked at this post? And yes, anceps is the species name. Fruitbat
When correctly writing scientific 'binomials', the first word (always capitalized) is the genus name and the seconds word (never capitalized) is the species name. Hence, in Prognathodon anceps, Prognathodon is the genus and anceps is the species. It is generally accepted that scientific binomials should either be italicized or underlined. -Joe Illigitimati non carborundum Fruitbat's PDF Library
