I'm not so sure about that.  While you raise a very good point as regards condition and aesthetics, it is a beautiful tooth, this tends to be a species driven hobby with the more iconic and popular prehistoric creatures fetching the higher prices.  If the buyer wanted a T rex tooth he/she didn't get what they wanted or payed for. When you consider the premium pricing on rex teeth I wouldn't be surprised at all if the person who bought the tooth, upon finding out that it was not a T rex , does return it.
