I found this in a road cut N of San Antonio. Thought it might be coral or antler...

You can be hit by a boat and die

You can be attacked by a shark and die

OR you could fall off the couch and die

GET OFF THE COUCH - go scuba!

You've been a busy beaver! :P

I would stop here and try to work on the picture thing. Trust me, everyone will still be here to give you info. :)

well, it looks like one of those tricky geological things that happens in a void or "vug" in sedimentary rock. we definitely need better pics, but i'd guess it's limestone outer with crunchy goodness inside consisting of calcite and aragonite (the brown part).

your pictures need to be resized to much smaller dimensions to display correctly here. maybe go with 1000 pixels or less in the longest dimension (normally the width).

It may have orrigionally been bone, but I am not too keen on that. The white end has what looks like a hole is reminicent of agate nodules I have seen in Texas. The golden to brown crystals do look like calcite which is not an unusual combination. I would be enclined to think this is a vug or even a geode that eroded clear of the rock it was in.

Be true to the reality you create.
