NAUfrogger
This fossil reminds me of an ammonite however, it is just a thin layer encrusting this rock like a skin. The rock is white and the fossil is very brown. It is from a creek bed in NW San Antonio. I have numerous ammonites but none that resemble this and the way that this is on this rock. Thoughts? You can be hit by a boat and die You can be attacked by a shark and die OR you could fall off the couch and die GET OFF THE COUCH - go scuba! Terry Dactyll
I would say it looks like mineral infil that has grown in a crack in the rock when it was in situ, but it does have a patina or texture, like it could be ammonite shell..... any chance of a closeup photo of the shell layer?....
